Inner Birth
Doula Services
At Inner Earth, we provide Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula services. You may request services of just one or a combination of both.
- Please refer to the "What is a Doula?" page to find out more about Doula services.
1. Birth Doula Services:
Prenatal Meetings -At least 1, depending on your needs, before the birth although due to the nature of births, it may not be possible and that is okay too. You are also able to contact me by phone.
Labor Support -Beginning in early labour at home to the planned birth place and throughout
Immediate Postpartum Support –Your doula will stay with you for about 1-3hrs after birth until everything is settled, including breastfeeding support
Postpartum Support -1 postpartum visit during the first week at your home
Your doula will be ‘on call’ 24/7 from two weeks before and two weeks after your estimated due date.
2. Postpartum Doula Services:
Prenatal Meetings -Preferably at least 1 meeting just like mentioned above but there is no problem without one.
Postpartum Support -Time and length will be discussed during the prenatal or initial meeting and after birth depending on the needs. Time of the day is pretty flexible. Start of the service can be anytime ranging from 1 day postpartum to 1 year postpartum.
As a Birth Doula, your doula will provide physical, emotional, informational, and spiritual support throughout your labor and birth experience.
As a Postpartum Doula, your doula will provide services that will support you and your new family physically, emotionally, spiritually, and with information.
Depending on your needs, your doula will do her best to:
- Support you emotionally, physically, and spiritually throughout your experience.
- Provide information such as labour pain coping, optimal fetal positioning, and baby care prenatally and beyond. Being well-informed empowers and lets you make informed decisions. I will support the decision once it is made and will not make the decision for you.
- Join you at the early stage of labour (unless impossible due to the nature of the birth or not being notified) so you will be supported and stay in the comfortable environment of your home before transporting to your birth place where your care provider will meet you.
- Listen, listen, listen and let you have your voice.
- Create a positive and safe environment where you and your partner are supported.
- Support partners through labor so they can be a part of it as much as they wish and hope to be. A doula does not replace or take over the partner’s place but enhances and supports it.
- A doula is a part of team, including you, your partner, and care providers. A doula does not replace or take over anybody else’s part. She is solely a support person and does not provide health care such as vaginal exams.
- Provide breastfeeding information and support.
- Provide referrals for further support and expert knowledge.
- Support the mother and partner during recovery from birth physically and emotionally.
- Support welcoming the baby and transitioning into becoming a new family. Some support of a postpartum doula can include taking care of baby when mom naps, tidying up the house, cooking, making sure mom is nourished, taking care of older children. These services are provided in order to support and meet the needs of a new mom and dad. A doula is not a house cleaner or a baby nurse and her job is not to do these things instead of you, but rather, they are done for you to support you for the time being so you are able to have the time to get to know your new baby, adjust, and also recover from birth.
- Provide support and information for other family members, such as grandparents as well.

For any reason of the above or other reasons, this workshop will do its best to suggest an answer. We will provide you with the basics of cloth diapering, including the types of diapers out there, ways to care for them, and other practical information.
Diapers are something that is on your baby’s soft bum a lot. Cloth diapering is ecologic, economic, and offers you the peace of mind knowing what is directly next to your baby’s skin all day and night.
Inner Bonding
Babywearing Workshop
Learn the age-old philosophy of babywearing! In many cultures around the world, babies have been carried around attached to their mothers and caregivers all day long. This recreates a womb-like atmosphere for the baby providing security, comfort, and continuous touch and presence of their loved one. It allows mothers and others to have free hands, enabling them to do things while closely caring for the baby full of love. Many people find that it is also a great way to put babies to sleep. Sometimes it can only take a few seconds for the little one to start snoozing after a fuss. There is a sling or carrier perfect for every occasion from doing chores inside the house to shopping, going on walks, and even hiking with! Learn your options and methods through this workshop and you will soon be a hip slingin’ babywearer!
Inner Treasure
Placenta Preservation
Your placenta was created and grew with your child inside your belly. It nourished your child for months and connected you together. It is full of nutrition and spiritual value and there are many ways to treasure it and honour it.
Placenta can be eaten, buried, kept, or printed. Ingesting placenta has been known to provide energy, restore hormone levels after childbirth, reduce hemorrhaging, enhance breastmilk, strengthen immune system, restore sex drive, bring blood hemoglobin levels back to normal, effective for menopausal symptoms, and reduce the possibility of postpartum depression. Many animals and in many cultures of the human world, mothers eat the placenta right after childbirth. Placenta has been used for many years in Traditional Chinese Medicine for above reasons and more.
Placenta capsules are one of the options for this spiritual keepsake. After cleaning your placenta, it will be dried (preferably within 48 hours of birth but can be done even after freezing within 12 hours of birth for up to 6 months later) using a high grade food dehydrator, ground into powder, and gently encapsulated, preserving its nourishment and sacredness, in vegetable based capsules. It can be kept in your freezer indefinitely. There have been reports on its positive healing effects internally and topically. It can also be saved for menopause.
If you are interested in this service, please contact us and we’ll be happy to answer any of your questions. Think of these capsules as another precious keepsake from your birth!
We also make suggestions and support you through your other options such as cooking placenta and burying them. Placenta broths with additional nourishing herbs can be very effective for postpartum recovery, especially after the mother has experienced hemorrhaging.
This service is simply about encapsulating your placenta. Consumption or other usages of the encapsulated placenta will exclusively be the choice and decision of the mother.
