Positive Effects of Having a Doula
There have been numerous research and clinical studies conducted to find out the effects of having doulas present at birth.
The clinical studies show:
- Labour tends to be shorter and have fewer complications
- Reduced needs and requests for medical interventions such as pitocin, forceps, and Caesarean-sections
- Reduction of negative feelings about one’s birth experience
Research shows that Doula-supported parents:
- Feel more secure and cared for
- Are more successful in adapting and transitioning to the new family dynamics
- Have greater success with breastfeeding
- Have greater self-confidence
- Have less postpartum depression
- Have lower incidence of abuse
Inner Earth Doula: Maria Kawata
I provide emotional, physical, spiritual, and informational support to mothers and families during their magnificent journey of pregnancy, birth, and beyond. I will be a continuous presence of support throughout the time. I want to be a positive force, empowering women and their partners to believe in their own body and soul.
I believe that pregnancy, birth, and beyond is a beautiful and special time with all the dynamics of life intertwining with each other. It is a time of transition and when being well supported, it is experienced positively at its full potential, whatever the experience may bring. I will do my best in supporting the experience so it will be remembered forever as what you had hoped and wished for.
